Welcome to the New Thwack Life: Built for Every Archer in America

If you've been here before, look around — this isn't the same place. And if you're brand new: welcome. You picked a good day to walk in.

For the past year, Thwack Life has been torn down to the riser and rebuilt. Not a facelift. A rebuild. Because somewhere between the first arrow I ever loosed and the idea that became this platform, one thing became obvious: archery in America doesn't have a home that belongs to everyone. So we built one.

What Thwack Life Is Now

A national archery directory. Thousands of ranges, clubs, shops, and programs across all 50 states, searchable in one place — including accessibility information, because finding a place to shoot shouldn't be the hardest part of the sport. If you run a location and something's out of date, there's a button for that. We keep it current together.

A real community. The Thwack Life community is where archers actually talk — recreational shooters, competitors, adaptive archers, parents of JOAD kids, folks who just bought their first bow and folks who've shot for forty years. Your first ten-ring gets cheered here like an Olympic gold. That's not an exaggeration. Post one and find out.

A place to learn. The Learn pages cover everything from your first lesson to compound tuning, ILF setups, adaptive equipment, and the mental game — free, organized by subject, no paywall, no "secrets" held back for a course upsell.

Arrows & Insights. Our blog: honest articles about what things actually cost, which bow actually fits you, how rankings actually work. No fluff, no gear-shaming, no pretending you need a $2,000 rig to belong on the line.

And yes, a shop. Gear and apparel for people who live this thing. It keeps the lights on and the mission moving — but the mission comes first, always.

The One Rule

Every decision on this platform gets filtered through a single standard: No gatekeeping. No gear elitism. Just real archery.

You belong here if you shoot a flagship compound, a garage-sale recurve, a longbow you made yourself, or a bow you draw with your teeth. You belong here at 8 years old and at 80. You belong here in a wheelchair, with a prosthesis, with a sight you can't see and a spotter calling your arrows. The sport bends around the archer — and so does this platform.

Where This Is Going

The directory, the community, the learning library — that's the foundation. The long game is bigger: advocacy for archers and ranges, a charitable foundation to put bows in hands that couldn't otherwise hold one, and eventually physical Thwack Life locations in every state in the country. Ambitious? Absolutely. So is shooting a 10 at 70 meters, and people do that every day.

Start Here

Find your nearest range in the National Archery Directory. Join the community and introduce yourself — tell us what you shoot, or that you don't shoot yet. Read something in Learn. And if you're standing at the edge of this sport wondering whether it's for you: it is. It always was.

Welcome to the Thwack Life. Now go shoot something. (A target. Obviously.)

Thwack Life Archery Addiction is a national culture-first community platform for U.S. target archers — recreational, competitive, and adaptive. We believe archery belongs to everyone.
